Activate a Rental Unit
Unlock a rental unit for paid use so you can publish listings and receive applications — completed in a few minutes.
On this page you unlock a single rental unit. Only after activation can you publish listings for this unit and receive applications. Billing runs per unit — other units in your account are not affected.
What Locari does automatically: Record your consents with a legally compliant audit trail (IP address, timestamp, terms version), process the payment via Stripe as a secure payment provider, and set the activation status immediately after payment. What you decide: Choose a billing plan (monthly, yearly, or 2-year) and authorise the payment.
Common Tasks
- Activate a unit for the first time
- Choose a billing plan
- Return after successful payment
- What to do when you lack permission
- Check trial status
For a list of all units on a property: Rental Units — status overview, filter by activation status.
How to
First-time Activation
- Open the rental unit and click the Activate tab.
- Select a billing plan (recommended: Yearly — lowest effective monthly price).
- Accept the terms, privacy notice, and — for immediate use — the waiver of the right of withdrawal.
- Click Activate — you will be taken to the secure payment page and automatically returned to the activation screen afterwards.
- After successful payment a confirmation card with a green tick appears.
Example: Unit "Sample Street 12, Ground Floor Left" for the Miller family — yearly plan, activation completed in 3 minutes.
Billing Plans
The page shows three options side by side:
- Monthly — maximum flexibility, highest monthly price
- Yearly — lowest effective monthly comparison price, 12-month term
- 2 Years — lowest total price, 24-month term
The displayed price depends on whether your account is classified as private or business — both account types see different contract terms. The classification was set during registration.
After Payment
After payment is complete, the system returns you automatically. The page then shows:
- Confirmation card (green tick): Activation successful — click Go to Rental Unit to start your listing immediately.
- Retry card: If the payment was cancelled, you can restart the process without re-entering your settings.
Missing Permission
If your user account does not have billing permission, the page shows an alert with the workspace owner's name:
"Ask [owner name] to activate this rental unit."
Only administrators with billing permission can activate rental units — this permission is assigned in the team management area.
Trial Period
If the unit is still in a trial period, the card shows a countdown to the expiry date. You can activate at any time before expiry to continue without interruption.

Audit and History
Every activation is recorded with a legally compliant audit trail:

- Timestamp and IP address of the consent
- Chosen billing plan
- User ID of the team member who triggered the action
These records are not visible directly in the interface but are stored for legal evidence. The general change history of the unit is in the History tab.
An activated rental unit cannot be deactivated retroactively. Cancellation and end of term are managed via Billing.
Permissions and Multi-select

- Activate (trigger payment): only administrators with billing permission — the action initiates a paid transaction.
